Fears have continued to mount of a possible volcanic eruption in Iceland.

An immediate evacuation was issued on Tuesday, and residents were allowed back into the town of Grindavik in small numbers to retrieve belongings.

Authorities later said the area around the town was evacuated after sulphur dioxide was detected.
