New pictures from Ukraine’s besieged port city of Mariupol reveal the terrible conditions faced by its 500,000 residents.

Russian forces completely surround the city and shelling has already claimed thousands of lives.

People are surviving in basements and bomb shelters. Many are running out of food, water and heating supplies.
