Chinese diplomat monitors Burkina Faso coup as military ousts president citing security concerns

Burkina Faso’s army announced on January 24, 2022, that it had ousted President Roch Kabore in a military coup. Later the same day, Chinese diplomat Wang Wenzhang, the Chinese counsellor for political affairs in Burkina Faso, described his observations as the situation developed in the capital, Ouagadougou.
