With intense fighting taking place in the Donbas region of eastern Ukraine, more foreign fighters have joined the war, including some veterans of the Chechen wars.
They are fighting alongside the Ukrainians against what they consider to be their common foe.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says Soledar and Bakhmut are key targets in a push to recapture areas annexed by Russia.
