Young entrepreneurs find bright future in Nansha in China’s Greater Bay Area

[Paid Post: Guangzhou Nansha Government]

Nansha, in the southernmost corner of Guangzhou, is rapidly transforming into an economic powerhouse. Apart from being at the geographical centre of Southern China’s Greater Bay Area, the district is surrounded by five airports, and linked to Hong Kong and Macau through high-speed rail.

Already, Nansha is home to the largest home port for cruise ships and one of the largest container terminals in China, and has a highly developed car manufacturing industry.

In 2022, the State Council announced the “Overall Plan for Promoting Comprehensive Cooperation among Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao by Further Deepening Opening-up in Nansha District of Guangzhou” to make the district a “world-focused” platform for developing advanced industries and attracting international talent. The plan, which includes financial and tax incentives, has already started to bear fruit, with over 1,000 innovative start-ups moving to Nansha, including unicorn company Pony.ai.

But there are many other reasons young entrepreneurs want to move to Nansha. The government has policies in place to make life there desirable, including living, medical and housing subsidies.

Here are the stories of two entrepreneurs who moved to Nansha and see a great future ahead of them
