Western nations are uniting to target Russia’s economy and limit its ability to finance its war on Ukraine.

Certain Russian banks are to be barred from the international finance system known as SWIFT, a move that means they will not be able to carry out transactions worldwide.

Russia’s Central Bank, which holds reserves worth $600bn, will also be affected.
