WATCH LIVE: Central Committee endorses new Chinese Communist Party leaders
The new Central Committee of China’s Communist Party has held its first plenary session, one day after the conclusion of the week-long 20th party congress. President Xi Jinping is presiding over a twice-a-decade leadership reshuffle, as the Central Committee endorses a new line-up of the Politburo and Politburo Standing Committee – the highest decision-making body. At a press conference, Xi introduced rising stars Li Qiang, Li Xi, Ding Xuexiang and Cai Qi, together with ideology tsar Wang Huning, 67, and anti-corruption chief Zhao Leji, 65, who will form the new Politburo Standing Committee.
