Vietnam’s largest waste-to-energy plant is nearing completion, with construction of the last major structure finished on November 14, 2021. Located in the Nam Son Waste Treatment Complex, the plant is 35km (22 miles) from the capital Hanoi. It can process 4,000 tonnes of household garbage within 24 hours, accounting for over 50 per cent of the waste generated in Hanoi. The US$300 million facility will be the second-largest waste-to-energy plant. The world’s largest, located in the southern Chinese city of Shenzhen, has a processing capacity of 5,000 tonnes per day.
