Soldiers with the far-right Azov Regiment said Russian forces have stormed the grounds of the Azovstal steel plant, the last holdout in Russian-occupied Mariupol. Moscow denied the claim saying that plans to storm the steel plant were called off by Russian President Vladimir Putin. Some 200 people, including 30 children, remain inside the industrial facility as of May 4, 2022. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that efforts are under way to finish the evacuation of the Azovstal factory grounds.
