After elevating trash-picking to a serious sport, Japan has hosted its inaugural “world cup” tournament. The November 22, 2023, event welcomed competitors from around the world to the capital Tokyo to collect the most trash in 90 minutes. Run by the non-profit organisation Nippon Foundation, the tournament aimed to raise awareness about environmental protection.
