Russian soldiers built defences in Chernobyl radioactive area, apparently shown by Ukrainian drone

Drone footage released by Ukraine’s Defence Ministry on April 6, 2022, appears to show Russian trenches near the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. The Russian trenches and fortifications were built in the “Red Forest”, one of the most contaminated areas within the Chernobyl exclusion zone. Ukrainian forces have since regained control of the crippled power plant, after it was temporarily occupied by Russian forces. This follows reports by Ukraine’s energy minister that about 75 Russian soldiers are undergoing medical treatment in Belarus for radiation exposure, apparently caused by digging around the grounds of the plant that was the site of the world’s worst nuclear disaster.
