Nicaragua has barred the European Union’s ambassador after the bloc condemned “systematic repression” of dissent by the government.
President Daniel Ortega has been accused of cracking down on opponents since 2018, when hundreds of people were killed and many more imprisoned during anti-government protests.
Now, rights campaigners say he is using a new tactic to silence his critics.
