Former Associated Press photographer Nick Ut took an influential photo and saved the life of Kim Phuc when covering the Vietnam War in 1972. The photo captured the 9-year-old Kim running and screaming after being badly burned by a napalm attack in her village. The picture has won a Pulitzer Prize and become an international symbol of the war. The events that day have also inspired a friendship that has endured for half a century.
