South Africa’s biggest city, Johannesburg, saw some snow fall on July 10, 2023, for the first time in more than a decade. People in the city, including children who had never seen snow, were enchanted by how it changed the cityscape. While some parts of the nation regularly experience snow during the southern hemisphere winter, Johannesburg has not seen such precipitation since 2012.
