An unidentified person from South Korea has crossed the demilitarised zone (DMZ) separating the two Koreas in a rare defection to the North. The South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said it carried out search operations after detecting the person at the heavily fortified border on the evening of January 1, 2021.
