Thailand’s parliament will hold another vote next week to appoint a prime minister. But, according to a deputy speaker on July 20, 2023, it cannot include the leader of the election-winning Move Forward party, Pita Limjaroenrat, because his renomination was blocked by parliament. Pita has faced tough resistance from conservative and royalist forces who staunchly oppose the party’s anti-establishment policies.
