A second deadly earthquake hit Turkey just hours after an initial 7.8 magnitude earthquake on February 6, 2023. Seismologists say it was unusually strong, measured at magnitude 7.5. It was just one in a series of aftershocks that continue to plague parts of Turkey and Syria. At least 3,800 people have been confirmed dead, but the World Health Organization warns the death toll could increase eightfold over the coming days.
