Some rare and previously unreleased footage of the Titanic recorded during a deepwater dive nearly four decades ago has been shared with the public to mark the 25th anniversary of the Oscar-winning film about the ill-fated vessel. The images released on February 15, 2023, include ghostly images of the hull and shots inside the wreck. The 1986 expedition offered the first look at the giant ocean liner since it struck an iceberg and sank in the frigid North Atlantic Ocean, killing an estimated 1,500 people.
