A powerful 7.8-magnitude earthquake hit southern Turkey and northern Syria early on February 6, 2023, killing more than 600 as buildings toppled across the region. Rescuers are now racing against time to save survivors under the rubble. The quake was reportedly one of the most powerful to hit the region in at least a century.
