Massive cow dung fight marks end of Diwali festival in Indian village

To mark the end of the popular Hindu festival of Diwali, a village in southern India has a tradition that is not for the faint of heart. During a day-long event, people in Gumatapura throw cow faeces at each other. The latest “Gorehabba”, as it is known locally, took place on November 6, 2021. Many Hindus believe cows and everything they produce is sacred and purifying, and some believe the animals’ dung has health benefits.
