Malaysians celebrated native daughter Michelle Yeoh’s Oscar win for best actress on March 12, 2023. Yeoh, who was born in northwestern Malaysia and started her career in Hong Kong, won for her role in the movie Everything Everywhere All At Once, becoming the first Asian actress to win in this category. It was Yeoh’s first Oscar nomination and win.
