Hong Kong beauty and fashion influencer Kelly “Spoon” Chan launched her online food brand Rumah after rediscovering her Indonesian mother’s recipes for kue lapis, or steamed coconut and pandan layer cake. Her reinvented sweets, modified for a modern palate and complete with an Instagram-friendly emerald green gradient, have garnered a cult following, with pre-orders selling out within minutes each time they’re released online.
