About 13 million people have been confined to their homes in the Chinese city of Xian since December 23, 2021. The lockdown rules were recently tightened, meaning locals can no longer go outside even for essential reasons such as buying food. Video recorded on January 2, 2022, shows security guards dressed in full protective suits distributing food by forming a human chain outside a sealed residential compound in the city in China’s northwestern Shaanxi province.
