Tokyo is digging out after the first snowfall of the winter triggered a heavy snow alert across all of the Japanese capital’s 23 wards for the first time in four years. The January 6, 2022, snowstorm forced the cancellation of nearly 120 domestic flights at the city’s Haneda Airport and some commuter trains were delayed. While many people were seen going about their day, at least 52 people were taken to hospitals after slipping and falling, according to authorities.
