Happy Cake Shop in Hong Kong’s Wan Chai neighbourhood will turn off its ovens and shut its doors on August 2, 2022, after 45 years in operation. The announcement was posted on July 27, 2022, although the owners encouraged customers to visit their remaining branch in Ma On Shan. The bakery was forced to shut down after failing to renew its rental agreement. The bakery is well known for its inexpensive and delicious Hong Kong-style baked goods like cream puffs and pineapple buns.
