Our American tradition of Thanksgiving came from a three-day celebration after the Pilgrim’s’ first corn harvest as organized by Governor William Bradford and shared with America’s native American Indians which included the Wampanoag chief Massasoit. They were thankful to the mighty God in Heaven for a place to worship Him in freedom of conscience and for the lives of those who had survived the oceanic journey and illnesses encountered in this new land, along with the bounty of food for which God had blessed them with that fall.
Not much has changed really from the first Thanksgiving in 1621. It’s still God who supplies our every need. It’s still God who oversees the world’s order of events. It’s still God who rightly deserves and inhabits our praises and honor due Him. It’s still God who IS and WAS and WILL BE our hope for eternal life with Him. And it is God that we desire today to give our thanks to during this Family- Worship time together with Pastor Kenny & Chris Shelton, entitled: “Give Him Praise.”
