Free tram rides and discounted meals to celebrate the 26th anniversary of Hong Kong’s handover

Hong Kong marked the 26th anniversary of its return to China with colourful events around the city. The Hong Kong Chinese Enterprises Association spearheaded the offer of free tram rides around the city, and senior government officials attended an opening ceremony at the Whitty Street tram depot. Meanwhile, Victoria Park was decorated with installations inspired by Chinese culture. Around 1,500 restaurants also offered discounts to mark the anniversary, including major chains such as Cafe de Coral and Fairwood.
