A viral video of a Malayan sun bear standing on its hind legs in eastern China has sparked online rumours in the country that the animals in Hangzhou zoo are actually people dressed up in bear costumes. The rumour has prompted zoo officials to issue a denial, saying their animals were the real thing.

Note: this video has been updated to correct grammar and clarify that the zoo posted on social media in the name of one of the bears.
