China plans to extend the length of its high-speed railway network to 50,000km (31,070 miles) by 2025. The network was 38,000km (23,612 miles) long as of \the end of 2020. The expansion of the world’s largest high-speed railway exceeds the combined length of the next five countries on the list: Spain, Japan, France, Germany and Finland. In its latest five-year transport plan issued on January 18, 2022, the Chinese State Council also said the country will widen its use of the Beidou satellite navigation system, and urged to tighten control of the use of transport data for national security.
