Avocado prices expected to rise as US halts imports from Mexico

Americans are starting to feel the squeeze from a shortage of avocados.
The US government has suspended all imports from Mexico following threats to one of its agricultural safety inspectors.
The suspension was announced on the eve of the Super Bowl, one of the biggest sales days of the year — an export industry worth $3bn per year.
Mexico’s President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has suggested the ban had a different motive.
He says US growers do not want imported Mexican avocados because of their superior quality.

Al Jazeera’s Andrew Chappelle reports.
