Afghanistan’s embassy in New Delhi said it was closing from October 1, 2023 due to a lack of support from India and a reduction in personnel and resources. Most foreign nations including India do not officially recognise Afghanistan’s Taliban government, but acknowledge them as the de facto ruling authority.
