The US issued an advisory on July 16, 2021, warning American businesses about the risks of operating in Hong Kong. Washington also sanctioned seven Chinese officials from Beijing’s liaison office in the city.
The advisory warns US companies in Hong Kong that they are subject to the national security law, under which foreign nationals, including one American, have been arrested.
