The US carried out air strikes on three facilities used by Iran-backed militias in Syria and Iraq on June 28, 2021. Directed by US President Joe Biden, the strikes were in response to the militias’ recent drone attacks on American personnel in Iraq, according to the Pentagon. They were the second time Biden has ordered the use of force in the region.
