A transgender couple in India’s southwestern coastal state of Kerala welcomed a healthy 2.9kg (6.4lbs) newborn on February 8, 2023, becoming the first couple in the nation’s history to become parents biologically. Zahad, who is transitioning female-to-male and carried the baby to term, and Paval, who is transitioning from male-to-female, were able to conceive after pausing their hormone therapy treatments.
