Work to demolish the village of Cha Kwo Ling in Hong Kong is set to enter its final phase in September 2025. The razing of the historic community, one of the city’s last remaining squatter villages, was ordered to make way for public housing. Many residents are upset about the decision, saying the village was more than simply a place to live.
