Protests against Russia’s recent moves on Ukraine were held across Europe on February 22, 2022. Crowds rallied near Russian embassies in the French, German, Ukrainian and Bulgarian capitals. The movements came as Russian President Vladimir Putin said Moscow has recognised two separatist regions in Ukraine as “independent” and deployed what he described as “peacekeeping” forces to the areas. Meanwhile, people inside the separatist-controlled area of Lugansk in eastern Ukraine were treated to fireworks after Russia’s declaration.
