Russian President Vladimir Putin observed exercises by his country’s strategic nuclear forces on October 26, 2022, according to the Kremlin. Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu told Putin that the drills focused on the forces’ “response to an enemy nuclear strike”. Russian officials have made repeated unsubstantiated claims in recent weeks, accusing Ukraine of planning to use a radioactive ‘dirty bomb’.
