North Korea said on June 2, 2024, it would stop sending trash-filled balloons across the border to South Korea. Seoul has warned it may retaliate with “unendurable” measures, such as blasting propaganda messages from loudspeakers at the border. The South Korean government has condemned the balloons as an “irrational act of provocation” by the North.
