North Korea will adopt “important practical” war deterrence measures, state media reported on March 12, 2023, a day before the US and South Korea start their largest joint military drills in five years. State media released footage of leader Kim Jong-un presiding over a meeting of the ruling party’s military commission. Washington and Seoul’s “Freedom Shield” exercises are set to begin March 13.
