A 69-year-old man has been rescued in rough seas off Japan after spending 22 hours adrift in open water. “It’s a miracle he survived,” a coastguard official told Japan’s Asahi newspaper. The man had been alone on a boat off southwestern Kagoshima prefecture on his way to the resort island of Yakushima on November 27, 2021, when his boat capsized.
