Japanese teen stabs and wounds passers-by, tells police she was ‘practising’ to kill her mum

A 15-year-old girl was pinned to the ground in Tokyo’s buzzing Shibuya district after she allegedly stabbed two women multiple times in the Japanese capital on August 20, 2022. Police said the teenager confessed she wanted to see “if people could die from stab wounds”, allegedly to prepare to try and kill her mother. The attack has put a spotlight on what one expert warned is a larger problem involving Japanese youngsters with no outlet for “everyday stress”.
