A Japan Self-Defence Force member was arrested after opening fire on June 14, 2023, killing two and injuring one. The 18-year-old cadet allegedly shot his colleagues during a live-fire exercise at a military training centre. Japan has one of the lowest rates of gun crimes in the world and has extremely tight gun-control laws.
