Iraq’s Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani is in Syria for a rare official visit. It is the first such trip by an Iraqi premier since the start of the Syrian civil war in 2011.
Al-Sudani held talks with President Bashar al-Assad in Damascus.
The two leaders discussed securing their shared border and strengthening economic ties.
