It has been one month since Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022. Russia’s military continues to face fierce resistance from Ukraine, which has denied Moscow a lightning victory. Nato estimates that between 7,000-15,000 Russian soldiers have been killed in Ukraine as of March 23. On March 2, Russia acknowledged the deaths of nearly 500 soldiers with almost 1,600 wounded. Ukraine has released little information about its own military losses, but Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on March 13 that at least 1,300 of the country’s soldiers had been killed. According to the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, 1,035 civilians have been killed in Ukraine since the Russian invasion began.
