The Chinese coastguard said it took necessary measures to expel Philippine vessels from a contested feature in the South China Sea on August 11, 2025, while Manila said two Chinese vessels collided during the operation. In videos posted by the Philippines coastguard, a Chinese vessel was seen displaying a water cannon against smaller Philippine ships. A Chinese coastguard vessel with bow number 3104 collided with a larger vessel numbered 164 with a loud bang. The collision between Chinese vessels was not mentioned in the Chinese statement
