Poyang Lake, China’s largest freshwater lake, is experiencing its earliest dry season on record. Floodwaters from the Yangtze River usually flow into Poyang during the summer, but the lake is currently 67 per cent smaller than its 10-year average, according to Chinese state media. The local communities’ drinking water supply has been severely affected.
