Thirty six people, including a firefighter, have been killed, 29 have been injured and 279 are still missing as a major fire rages on a housing estate in Hong Kong’s Tai Po neighbourhood. Flames lashed over bamboo scaffolding across seven blocks with multiple residents trapped inside. Huge plumes of dark smoke billowed high into the sky at the scene at Wang Fuk Court on November 26, 2025, with the flames quickly spreading to seven out of eight blocks in the estate. Fire crews continue to try to extinguish the blaze well into the next day.
