Indonesia plans to begin operating its China-funded Jakarta-Bandung high speed railway in August 2023, dismissing a recent report that the US$7.2 billion project will be delayed a third time and launch in January 2024 instead. Despite the swirling financial and timeline rumours, the joint China construction company behind the project, PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC), has said “everything is under control” and a soft launch will proceed in a few weeks’ time.
