Parliament elected opposition lawmaker Shehbaz Sharif as the new leader on April 11, 2022.The appointment prompted more than 100 lawmakers from Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (Pakistan Justice Party) to resign from the National Assembly.
